What is the penalty for an extreme DUI in Arizona?

The legislative system in Arizona has imposed a number of different penalties for a DUI conviction, and even harsher penalties when the conviction is escalated to an aggravated status. Penalties under extreme DUI laws in Arizona include: 

• License revocation for a period of one year
• A citation of $900 dollars, plus additional assessment charges of $250 dollars and $1,250 dollars
• Installation of the IID (Ignition Interlock Device) and compliance with the IID program for a period of at least 3 years. You are required to pay the installation and program costs
• An incarceration for a term of, at the very minimum, 10 days. In extreme cases, you’ll likely be sentenced to at least this for your first offense)
• A completed alcohol and drug assessment and treatment program, possibly involving an inpatient facility, and a requirement that you obtain a certificate of completion from the program you are admitted to

The state of Arizona also reserves the right to suspend your driving privileges after the revocation has expired, for a period of another 2 full years. When you are finally eligible to get your license back, you have to both pay to reinstate your license and pay to purchase the high-risk SR-22 insurance that accompanies most DUI suspensions.
