Question:

What is the super speeder law in Georgia?

Answer:

Georgia’s super speeder law went into effect in 2010. This law is designed to make roads safer by cracking down on individuals that the state identifies as high risk drivers... and it’s also designed to make money.

It was estimated that super speeder violations are likely to generate as much as $30 million per year for the state. While that may sound like a lot of money, understanding how the law works and the astronomical costs that violators pay brings clarity to the estimate.

What Is A Super Speeder

There are two ways that a driver can become a convicted super speeder. She can be caught driving 75 mph or faster on a two lane road or she can be caught driving 85 mph or faster on any road in the state.

What Are The Consequences

Individuals convicted of these offenses get the privilege of helping to pay for a trauma care hospital system. Each super speeder ticket requires a driver to pay a $200 state fee. This amount is charged in addition to the fines for speeding.

What Happens If I Don’t Pay

Failure to pay is not a wise decision. First and foremost, your driver’s license will be suspended. Then, in addition to the costs that you are already liable for, the state will penalize you with another $50 fee.

Legal Assistance

Super speeding can be super expensive. Furthermore, you stand a chance of having several points added to your driving record. If you are charged with this offense, it is advisable to consult with an attorney.
