A ticket is a formal summons to appear in court. If you have unpaid traffic or parking tickets that have gone beyond the expiration date, the judge in the district where the ticket was issued may eventually issue a warrant for your arrest. This means that you will be brought in to court forcibly if you are found and required to either pay the fines and fees or answer to the charges brought in the ticket. If you have a traffic ticket that has gone warrant, you may wonder if it will show up on your record or in a background check, such as those conducted for pre-employment?
There is no good one single answer for this question of warrant traffic ticket appear record. Depending on the reporting requirements in your state, as well as on how the warrant was filed and how the background check is done, the warrant may or may not show up on your record. In Maryland, for example, there is a reporting system that allows for every speeding ticket and small violation to be pulled up by anyone who searches your name, while in Pennsylvania, the only records that are found in most background checks are convictions. In an FBI or other police background check, it will likely show up.
It is best not to take a chance if you have a warrant out for your arrest based on traffic tickets. To deal with the problem and avoid problems with a background check, or even arrest, you should strongly consider speaking with a lawyer who can assist you in resolving the warrant.
