The Driver's License Point System in Kentucky

How Many Points Before Your License is Suspended?

Kentucky like most states, uses a point system to track drivers. Under that system (the Kentucky Point System) if the points assessed reach 12 points within two years the driver may be subject to license suspension. Although these infractions are reported to your insurer, the accrued points may not have much significance because, when deciding on rate increases, most insurers apply their own point system.

Suspensions

A driver who accumulates 12 points (or 7 points against a driver under age 18) will be required to attend a hearing. Failure to appear for the hearing results in a driving suspension for a period of six months for the first 12 points, one year for the second 12 points, and two years for any subsequent 12 points within the two year period.
