The Driver's License Point System in Michigan

How Many Points Before Your License is Suspended?

Each Michigan traffic violation has a point value and points are placed on your driver record only after you have been. Points placed on your driver record remain there for two years from the date of conviction.  Although these infractions are reported to your insurer, the accrued points may not have much significance because, when deciding on rate increases, most insurers apply their own point system.

Suspensions

Any driver with 12 points or more in a two year period may be required to undergo a “reexamination” during which your driving record will be assessed. The result of the reexamination may be license restriction, suspension or revocation.
